After setting up the tent, we went into the water to cool off. Something we would do a FEW times that day.

Again... not really recommended. I took this picture so I could remember where NOT to go next time.

The scene in "Red Bridge Park" in Park Rapids. The bridge that the boys are jumping off of is part of the last 100 yards of The Gateway Trail.

Working our way up the highway - the motorcycle coming towards us was one of the many support vehicles for our rides who followed us up and down the roads for the whole week.

Due to a fatal bike accident (not one of our riders) just up the road, hundreds of us waited at "World of Christmas" for the road ahead to be cleared for bike traffic.

Riding stats. We kept at about 14 mph for our average MOVING speed (not accounting for time spent stopped and waiting) for the entire week, which is not bad.

..and an hour after THAT, we're all in line waiting to be released - back to Park Rapids. The road to Itasca was not open for us that day and the "fun" part of the ride was scrubbed.

Dorset, MN - not really a town. Just a collection of restaurants and stores in the middle of absolutely nowhere.

On the way back from lunch/dinner in Dorset, we stopped at a store and got two major purchases to help beat the ungodly heat. The first was a couple of space blankets which we used to shield the tent from some of the late-afternoon sun....

..and the other was a battery-powered ceiling fan that clamps to the top of the tent using a magnetic base (on the inside) and a metal plate (on the outside). Sheer genius! Well worth the $11 we paid. Delicious to have a breeze in the sweltering heat.
