There's mine and Melissa's shadows in a wheatfield as we set out the next morning. A bit blurry as I shot this while riding....

This house was fenced off by a woodpile that went around the entire circumference of the lot. Impressive amount of wood!

The blistering heat and the nasty headwind just don't show in this picture....

Melissa doesn't even look miserable in this shot - but we were both getting to the ends of our ropes.

Trees everywhere - and we were well under the shade, thank goodness. Too bad about the train tracks - we were awakened about every 30 minutes all night as the freight trains barrelled through town with their horns blaring.

Everybody clustered under the trees as well as they could.

The first photo of this day is when we stopped for the day. Wadena to Fergus Falls was all highway and it wasn't really very interesting. Plus it almost rained on us so getting the camera out wasn't high on our list of priorities.

Only two tents were closer to us than all of these - the plan was to have a perfectly quiet nights' sleep -for once! This plan was foiled by a street dance downtown, the music from which was quite audible up at the campground until midnight.

Proximity to the luggage trucks was key - tomorrow is/was the last day and we wanted to be able to pack up and get out of there without lugging our gear across half of the campground!

..apparently there were going to be a fair number of troops returning the next day. The town was all set up for a big welcome.

Is it just me? Full service gun shop and auto repair in the same building just seemed odd.

I was sitting outside, reading, when I suddenly looked up to the NW and realized that there was a good chance of rain. I had just enough time to batten down the hatches and jump into the tent before all heck broke loose (for about 5 minutes).

An island in the park at Fergus Falls had the most amazing collection of (loud!) Egrets I've ever seen. One of the other bikers in the camp called it "poop island".
